“The Kingdom of God is like…” will be the theme for SDB World Federation sessions in Curitiba, Brazil, January 22-28, 2017. In preparation for that emphasis, it will also be the theme for the SDB Week of Prayer, January 3-9, 2016, with daily devotions on Jesus’ teaching about God’s Kingdom. Jesus said that teaching about the Kingdom was a primary purpose for his coming into our world.
In less that two years, the next Seventh Day Baptist World Federation Sessions will be held in Brazil; January 22-28, 2017 to be exact. The Pre-Registration process has begun, and all 18 of our member conferences have been sent pertinent information and an invitation to name their delegates for this important gathering.
Prayer partners are asked to pray for SDBs in Southern Malawi. They are being affected by Severe flooding. We got word that our Brethren in the Lower Shire valley, Southern Malawi are being affected by floods. The BBC News report that more than 170 people have been killed and 200,000 displaced by torrential rain and flooding in Malawi. Large areas in the south are underwater and the continuing rain is making rescue operations difficult (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-30874965).
Prayer partners are asked to join the Brazilian SDB Conference in prayer for our brethren and their neighbors in southern Brazil. Pastor Jonas Sommers of the Brazilian SDB Conference, writes: “…….We are suffering with a flooding here in Porto União. Last weekend rained 3 times more than it was expected for the whole month. There some SDB familys homeless because the flooding. There are no access to Curitiba because some bridges were carried away by the strong current of water and there were landslides on highways. As a result there are many gas stations without gas and there is no cleaning products and some food in many supermarkets.…”
