NEDD LOZANI
My full name is Nedd Chitekwe Lozani.
I was born on February 9, 1947 in a Seventh Day Baptist household, the last child in a family of 10 children. My father was a Seventh Day Baptist Pastor until his death in 1961. He earned his living from cultivating maize (corn), beans, sugar cane, cassava, ground nuts, vegetables, while also rearing goats and chickens.
I had my full Primary School Education from a Catholic Mission School. My Secondary School Education was from a Seventh-day Adventist Mission School, where I obtained a School Leaving Certificate from Cambridge University. I was then selected to study at the University of Malawi Polytechnic from 1969 to 1972, where I attained a Diploma with Credit in Business Studies, majoring in Accountancy and Administration. Since graduating, I was employed by Mobil Oil International, working with them for 32 and a half years in Marketing, Administration, and Operations until December, 2003 when I retired.
During the years I was working with Mobil Oil, I was privileged to serve in my local Seventh Day Baptist Church in various capacities including Sabbath School Superintendent, Deacon, and Elder.
Since 1984, I have been serving on the Board of Trustees of the Central Africa Conference of Seventh Day Baptist Churches as a member, Vice Board Chairman, and Board Chairman. When I retired from Mobil Oil in December, 2003, the Board of Trustees asked me, in October, 2004, to assume the position of General Secretary of the Conference. I accepted the offer and continue to serve in that capacity.
I am happily married to Alefa, who is currently the National Chairperson for the Malawi Seventh Day Baptist Women’s Guild. We have four sons and one daughter, and five grandchildren.
Sincerely in Christ,
Pastor Nedd Lozani
